18 NOV 22 At Sea

This post is based primarily on Don's notes, occasionally supplemented with MT's notes from our cruise in November 2022. When information from other sources is added—for further explanation to readers or to satisfy our own curiosity—that is set off in a text box (as this one).
Most of the photos that accompany this post are from Don’s camera (with a caption indicating the time it was taken); those from MT’s iPhone are indicated by “MT” placed at the beginning of the photo caption. Photos from any other source (such as the public domain Wikimedia Commons), occasionally used for clarification, indicate that source in the caption.

The Viking Daily newsletter showed today's weather forecast as "Sunny/Cloudy Chances for Rain 77° F."

Don woke at 6:45 am, but MT had already taken a sunrise photo from our stateroom balcony.

MT Friday, November 18 6:34 AM - Viking Star: sunrise from our balcony.

We had room service breakfast at 7:15.

Friday, November 18, 7:20 AM - Viking Star: room service breakfast on our stateroom balcony.

From 8:27 7- 9:37, Don ran 4 miles (16 laps) on jogging track (Deck 2) and MT walked.

MT 9:36 AM - Viking Star: view of ocean waves from jogging track.

MT 9:44 AM - Viking Star: view of ocean waves with our wake, from jogging track.

We shopped onboard for the Norwegian sweaters we had seen on previous cruises and also looked for insect repellent, but we bought nothing.

Then MT reserved a Swedish Deep Tissue Massage at the Fitness Center (Deck 1) for November 23 (another "At Sea" day). That would use $139 of our shipboard credits.

For lunch we went to the Pool Grill for our seared ahi tuna and salad.

At lunch, we met Rita and Jack from Chicago and then played bocce with them  on the Sports Deck (Deck 9). Jack won.

At 4:15 pm, we went with Rita and Jack to the Wintgergarden on Deck 7 for English Tea (4-5 pm). There was poor service for late arrivals like us, who were seated at the nearby Mamsens. All four of us decided to get the Success Cake at Mamsens.

Then the two of us played Wordle in out stateroom, and got it in 4 (Splendid!).

In late afternoon and early evening, the Caribbean Sea became more active, and we could feel the decks rolling over the waves.

The Viking Daily newsletter invited us to “Flavors from the Sea” from 6-9 pm in the World Café: “Come and enjoy a delicious selection of seafood dishes prepared by our Executive Chef Gary and his culinary team.”

We waited until 6:30 to go to the "Flavors from the Sea" dinner in the World Café (Deck 7).

At 7:45 pm, we watched the movie "Death on the Nile" (2022) on the TV in our stateroom, since we had missed it at 8:30-10:30 pm Thursday in the Theater.
