30 NOV 22 At Sea

This post is based primarily on Don's notes, occasionally supplemented with MT's notes from our cruise in November 2022. When information from other sources is added—for further explanation to readers or to satisfy our own curiosity—that is set off in a text box (as this one).
Most of the photos that accompany this post are from Don’s camera (with a caption indicating the time it was taken); those from MT’s iPhone are indicated by “MT” placed at the beginning of the photo caption. Photos from any other source (such as the public domain Wikimedia Commons), occasionally used for clarification, indicate that source in the caption.

The Viking Daily newsletter showed today's weather forecast as "Clouded 81° F" and "Sunrise: 6:59 AM."

This was our second consecutive day "At Sea" in the Caribbean.

Don woke at 6 am (MT had been up since 5).

MT ‏‎‏‎6:44 AM - Viking Star: sunrise.

Don ate a banana and then went to the Jogging Track (Deck 2). From 7:05 to 8:30, he ran 3 miles. Then he joined MT to walk most of the 4th mile.

‏‎‏‎7:14 AM - Viking Star: Jogging Track on Deck 2 port side, from forward to aft, with puddles of water.

‏‎‏‎7:20 AM - Viking Star: Jogging Track on Deck 2 starboard side, with crew member using squeegee on wet places (this side had more water on it).

‏‎‏‎7:22 AM - Viking Star: Jogging Track on Deck 2, coming out of the "tunnel" at the aft end toward the starboard side, with lots of wet places.

‏‎‏‎7:23 AM - Viking Star: Jogging Track on Deck 2,  starboard side, looking back toward the "tunnel" at the aft end.

Around 9 am, we went to The Restaurant (Deck 2) for breakfast.

Since our stateroom was still being cleaned, we grabbed our books and went to the Aquavit Terrace (Deck 7 aft) to read.

Around 10:15, we returned to our stateroom.

During lunch, the Captain made a PA announcement that, due to a medical emergency (heart), he had increased speed. So we would arrive at Ft. Lauderdale that evening. However, we probably would not be allowed to dock there, but would have to stay out to sea until morning.

2:22 PM - Viking Star: Ship Tracker on TV in our stateroom, showing position of Viking Star passing the Bahamas and getting close to Ft. Lauderdale.

MT 12:44 PM - Viking Star: screen shot from MT's iPhone showing results from playing the word game Wordle 315 times with a current streak of 62 (our streak would go on to 104 before it was broken the following year).

The Viking Daily newsletter for this day gave directions for Flight Check-In using the ship's Wi-Fi. It also said we could access our email account and print our boarding passes onboard at the Business Center (Deck 1) or on arrival at the airport.

At 6:30, we went to The Restaurant for our pre-ordered dinner.

At 8:10, we  took a sort walk on the Jogging Track (Deck 2). We saw lights on shore (could have been Miami).

By the time we were finished with dinner and our walk, we had received the Viking Daily newsletter for Nov 30 in our stateroom. It showed the Disembarkation Schedule, in groups corresponding to the color-coded luggage tags we had received with the newsletter. It said we were to attach the tags to our luggage and leave the tagged luggage outside our stateroom between 8:00 and 10:00 pm this evening. The newsletter reminded us not to pack items we would need tonight or in the morning.

Our color-coded luggage tags were for group "Blue 2," which the schedule said would meet at the Theater (Deck 2) at 7:30 am.
